1946 dodge firetruck, builder was Dakota Fire Apparatus in Brookings S.D. sold to the Toronto S.D. Fire Dept. I bought it in 1999 in Turlock CA. and stored it until now. In Dec.2011 I started a complete change over and retoration. I bought a 1991 Chevy Suburban 2wd/ 454 ci. FI, 4L80e auto. overdrive trans. I pulled the Suburban body off the frame, threw it away and putting the Dodge Firetruck on the Chevy frame/chassis. Going to be a hot rod parade vehicle when done. I've got the cab and front clip on now and it is running. Tilt wheel, power brakes, even cruise control. The Firetruck only had 3,500 mi on it and was in great shape, interior is like factory cond. just a couple of small tears in the seat and sagging headliner. No body rot at all, just surface rust and a couple of dings, looks cool now, rat rod look. I will post pic's on progress of build. The complete 1946 chassis, flat head 6, 4 sp. trans. will be sold complete in the near future, it ran great when I got it, it's got fresh oil and turns over by hand..ONLY 3,500 MI!!! I'm a recent retired Fire Capt. and wanted this as a project to keep me out of trouble.
