Just purchased this truck from someone in Manassas, Virginia, but he was not sure of the history of the truck. It is in 99% original and great running mechanical condition. Prior to me buying the truck, the only major alteration has been a conversion from 6 volt positive ground to a 12 volt negative ground. However, the original regulator is on the firewall, but I do not have the original generator. I have already converted the distributor points and condenser to an electronic system, but left all other parts of the original Autolite distributor as is. Also, rebuilt the Carter carb and added an electric fuel pump, since the block mounted fuel pump was leaking. I intend to replace the block mounted fuel pump with an exact replacement and then of course remove the electric fuel pump. I was just anxious to be able to drive the truck without worrying about a gas leak that close to the exhaust :) Immediate plan is to replace the stake body wood bed, but luckily all steel hold down strips are completely intact and will be refurbished. The is minor sheet metal work needed on the bottom of the drivers door. I intend to sand off the top layer of non original gray paint sprayed on the doors to get back to the original color and lettering that I found was under the gray paint. I guess they were trying to cover up some previous business lettering, which I hope will be readable. Then I intend to clear the entire cab to preserve the cool patina it has. And finally, all weatherstripping will be restored. I love this truck for its originality and will be leaving everything as is. I will be adding some pictures soon.
