Truck was purchased for my 16th birthday present in 1999 in Three Rivers Michigan for $2000 dollars with spare parts. It was in running and driving order and driven till 2001. Color at the time was Dodge Truck Red In good condition with fading of the paint. Based on hand notes and receipts it was last restored in 1983. I believe at this time the previous owners had replaced the 3 speed transmission with the 4 speed dated 2-11-52. At some point prior to my parents purchasing the truck the data plate has been lost to time. In 2001 I decided to strip her down for new paint when sanding under red paint and primer was a cream color then another layer of primer and it Original color of Dodge deep blue. The blue was found throughout the truck deep in panels as overspray. No other colors were found below the blue. The frame was striped as well revealing a bright lime green what I believe to be a rust prevention under the black paint and undercoating. The undercoating did an amazing job along with all the layers of paint protecting the steel with all frame numbers looking as the day they were stamped. Like most projects college, then moving to Texas starting a family the truck sat in my dads barn for 20 years in primer and totes. It’s now 2021 and time to finish her. The primer will be removed and replaced with the new epoxy primers, rust protection, and the best modern paints have to offer. It won’t go back to an original Dodge color but more a a teal green of the 50’s era. The Mickey Tompson end 50’s on the rear and 70’s will come off and the original steel wheels and white walls will be put back on.
