This 59 W200 has been brought back from the dead! Ron bought
this truck from a guy who had cut off the frame behind the cab to make a
longer wheel base truck. The rear frame had been thrown away, and there
was now a long box frame, and the wrong axle. But Ron was not daunted! He
bought a frame (from a 60 W100, same basic frame), a bed, and a rear axle
from VPW and got to work. What you see here is the fruits of his labor.
Ron got his truck back from the painter only 2 weeks before the rally, but
his truck was all done, running and driving in time. In fact Ron won the
obstacle course, which he modestly said was made easier by his shorter wheelbase(compared
to the Flat Fenders), but anybody out there who has tried to maneuver a
closed knuckle 4wd truck around knows, it is not easy. These pictures do
not do it justice as I waited to long to take pictures and I was forced
to use the lights under the shelter to try and light the truck. If anybody
took better shots of this truck at the rally please send them to me. Ron,
if you have any before shots I would love to use them! |
