Originally a US Geological Survey vehicle it was bought by a private party and the 6 cyl. engine was replaced with a V8 (318)and the gas tank moved to under the bed. The truck was brought to Arizona from Texas in the early 1970s by the next owner who I acquired it from in 1976. I used it as an off-road work truck until the early 1980s when the engine and front end gave up. I recently sold the property where I was keeping it and decided to put it to use again. It is back on the road with a working 318, a different front end with disc brakes and power steering. Because it has been in the southwest rust is minimal athough the body is well worn. I plan to use it as a short haul work truck and will repair and upgrade it accordingly.
